Just a Slice 3

"THE TRIALS OF A RAP GROUP!"
We finally took our long awaited, much needed, group photographs. Much needed because when we send out our demos we want to give the labels a good idea of what they’ll be dealing with … or losing out on ( apologize for the cockiness, we’re young megalomaniacs in training). So after months of searching and scouring myspace for the right photographer to capture our beautiful mugs we decided to shoot it ourselves … guerilla style. We had no luck finding the right photographer, because they were either too busy or too high. (Artists are some flakey sonsabitches!) So we borrowed one of the homie’s camera (shout out to Reggie Reg and the bullies!) and went to Leo-Nardo’s Mom’s house while our pseudo/interim/quasi manager Felton took the flicks. Big shout out to Felton who was clutch that day! First off, he had to wake up at around 7a.m. (after a night of heavy drinking. Me and Nardo drank so much we tried speaking Mandarin to two Kats) and meet Reggie off the freeway to pick up the camera. He then came to the location and climbed his big, Ryan-Leslie-lookin’ ass on the roof to shoot ... I have decided to drop the pseudo from his name because of the hard and dedicated work he put in that day. He’s starting to get the hang of this manager thing. From now on Felton will be addressed as our quasi/interim manager. Now all we have to do is get the pictures developed. And at the rate we move, we should have our pictures in hand; ready for the labels by Christmas of ’09 … I can’t wait to see ‘em.

P.s. I don’t usually do album reviews, and it’s even more rare that I bump R&B, but after listening (more like skimming through) to the self-proclaimed king of R&B, Kells’ Double Up I had to comment on it. This CD set black R&B back five years. Every other song was about being in the club, pulling up to the club or leaving the club. Black folks are losing R&B to white folks. Case in point: Robin Thicke, Amy Winehouse (Both dope R&B albums by the way), Justin Timberlake, Joss Stone, Fergie, Christina Aguilera, Nellie Furatado, Kevin Michael (He’s half white!) … you get the point. And we got Mr. Golden Shower singin’ ‘bout “havin’ sex like animals” and “makin’ monkey noises in bed” and visiting Uranus and don’t get me started on the “baby song.” Is Mr. Pied Piper even trying? What do y’all think?

P.s.s. Thank God for Erykah Badu, Jill Scott and Neyo--only one currently working as far as I know--
